21 Days of Goddess Gratitude and

The Theme of December is always of Gratitude…..

“If the only prayer you say in your life is ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.”–Meister Eckhart

This past year has been a rough ride for many of us in Alberta and all over Canada.  We’ve been hit hard financially with my husband working in the pipeline industry and I know so many others who have experienced financial and many other difficulties as well.

Every day that I have a house to live in, groceries in the fridge to eat and gas in my car, I am thankful, daily and especially to get through the lean tough times, I practice Gratitude  ~ more and more the past year and wanted to share with you….Gratitude and I extend a personal Invite you to join me in 21 Days of Goddess Gratitude.  It’s wonderful to share.

Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given.

Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present. In addition, behavioral and psychological research has shown the surprising life improvements that can stem from the practice of gratitude.

Giving thanks makes people happier and more resilient, it strengthens relationships, it improves health, and it reduces stress.

I invite you to join me for 21 Days of Goddess Gratitude, where I have opened a safe, supportive space to express our gratitude on Facebook here:

There will be daily journal prompts and mantras that I will be sharing. I Would love to see you there!  Please note that this is a Private FB Group!

The holiday season is upon us. And for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, nature has already gone  into its dormant phase.  Mother Earth is hibernating. The trees have shed their leaves, snow covers the ground here in most of Alberta.

This should be a time when we too seek solitude, go within, and take a little time off. It’s what our bodies want, it’s what our minds crave; yet, most of us ignore the signs, putting in ever longer hours as the days grow increasingly shorter.   For most people, it’s CRAZY BUSY. Stores are blaring holiday music and telling you there’s just a few shopping days left ’till Xmas. Companies are cranking away to make their end-of year financial goals. Families and friends are making plans to visit and celebrate. Social calendars have booked up.  And while our human ways can feel productive and even celebratory at holiday time, it’s also quite exhausting for most people.
Not to mention that we are running COUNTER to the slower rhythms of nature at this time of year. Winter is meant of be a time of REST!

Yes, I said REST.

This is a word we seem to have forgotten in our fast-paced Western Culture. We are moving and lightning speed and multi-tasking like mad. We are doing MORE with LESS support. And most of us are really pretty tired.

In nature, we celebrate the changing of the seasons. And every farmer knows that a recipe for getting an healthy abundant crop is to leave the fields fallow for a period of time. But it’s not that nothing is happening during these fallow periods. The soil is regenerating. The nutrients are building back up. The plants are building their internal infrastructure and their root system is expanding beneath the ground. Without this fallow time, nature could not come out in her full splendor next Spring-with bountiful crops and glorious flowers.

We humans aren’t so different. We also need deep periods of stillness, rest, and “down time.” But our culture doesn’t really celebrate these things. With only 2 weeks of vacation a year at most jobs, there’s time for little more than a few family visits or a quick vacation.

So we keep pushing and pushing. And many of us, including me, have ended-up burnt out, unhealthy and generally not taking very good care of US. I was reading an article recently where it stated that approximately 80% of people today will experience adrenal fatigue in their lifetime. Wow.

So if you want to keep up your big, bright life. If you want to fully show-up for your family and your friends; if you want to make a big difference, you have really got to REST my friends. And nurture yourselves! This is not selfish behavior, but totally REQUIRED for folks who are going to be putting out a lot into the world. And I know a bit about all of you-you GIVE a lot. And you’ll burnout FOR REAL if you don’t charge up those batteries.

So here’s my suggestions of key holiday gifts to YOURSELF. If you fill up your own cup so that you are radiant and abundant, this will be nothing but FABULOUS for you, your family, and your work.

Ten Ways to Reduce Holiday Stress

1. Get enough sleep. You may wonder how this fits especially when you have a long list of things to do for the holidays. However, this truly is a simple step to a stress-free holiday. The lack of sleep leads to fatigue, which in turn reduces your ability to cope with the holiday demands.

2. Find time to exercise, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Exercise helps to increase your energy level and reduce stress.

3. Nourish yourself. In other words, take time to eat properly. In the rush to accomplish all the things planned for the holidays, you may tend to skip meals in order to get more done. You need fuel to continue on with holiday cheer.

4. Plan ahead so that you are prepared for what’s coming up. The last thing you need is unscheduled interruptions to your day. If something unplanned comes up that can wait until later, do not be ashamed to politely refuse or reschedule.

5. Set and stick to a holiday budget for things that are on your lists to do and buy. It’s easy to overspend over the holidays which can lead to stress. Once you set your budget, your decision making will be easy and less stressful when it comes time to make your holiday purchases.

6. Shop early to avoid the holiday crowd. Try shopping over the Internet and skip the hassle of crowded shopping malls, parking and the frustration of standing in line.

7. Prioritize what you want to accomplish over the holidays. Stick with the most important first, and you’ll get those things done that are most important to you.

8. Simplify your life. If you can make things easier for yourself, do so. It saves you from stress, and it works. A lot of things don’t have to be elaborate, especially with decorations and food preparation.

9. Reduce your expectations. High expectations usually equate to higher probability of stress when things don’t work out. Don’t try to do too many things or expect too much from others; take the holiday time to relax. Find little self soothers to pamper yourself throughout your day.

10. Plan to give service, and think of someone’s needs other than your own. This charitable spirit will help you be more appreciative of what you already have and remember what the holiday is really about. Having compassion for others softens our Spirit and lends its way to awakening your heart within.

Expectations are the biggest stress: those that others have placed on us and those we impose on ourselves. Our schedules fill up, and our pocketbooks become empty. Expectations of how the holidays should be keep us from enjoying a time of simpler, more meaningful joys. There is such a simple solution to the holiday stress blues, just say “no “and give yourself the gift of compassion. Let someone else do a project, let the bakery do the cookies, have someone wrap your gifts and have a party when decorating the tree, the more the merrier. Plan now and kick back and enjoy some eggnog! Create your magical holiday….

Why do I do what I do?

I love to serve women who are ready to discover greater self- awareness, a deeper spiritual connection, emotional healing, authentic creative expression and to live a meaningful and passionate life as they age with grace, wisdom and vibrancy.

My practice is grounded in the pursuit of balance between mind, body, and soul, as I fully believe in the power of self-healing.

I work with women who are ready to commit to doing the sometimes difficult, always rewarding work of creating the life they desire. Whether it’s navigating transition (divorce; career change; getting older); personal development (including emotional, mental, and spiritual growth); and stress management, I will whole heartedly walk with you every step of the way until you have achieved that which you desire.

The reason why I do what I do is that I come from a place of transition myself… high anxiety, anger, and two Auto-Immune di-eases (Lupus and Celiac). I learned that you had to work hard for everything, that life was a struggle and that you had to earn your worth at every turn.  But that it not Truth!  Life does not have to be a daily struggle and through balancing the mind, body and soul with self-healing, self-care and knowledge you can stand in your power!

Sending you love and light

I would love to hear what you think….

Being Proactive for the Holiday Season

We are heading into the busy time of year! I can’t believe that the holiday season will be upon us in just over 4 weeks! This is the best time for extreme self-care.

It’s a good time to look at what you “must do” and what would be “nice to get done”, and choose wisely (for what would keep you calm, joyful, and rested).

This year I am choosing to be proactive with some of my holiday tasks, and that feels really good to get them done before things get too busy. I’m trying to get extra sleep when I can so that I don’t head into the season already exhausted!

So, as another act of self-care, instead of writing a new article for this newsletter, I am choosing to send you an article I sent out last Fall that I think will be a great reminder for those of you who had read it last year, and helpful for those reading it for the first time. It talks about the stress and pressure we put on ourselves, and how to avoid listening to our harsh “Inner Critic”. At this time of year, we often place high expectations on ourselves.

I am grateful for you!

Calming Your Inner Critical Voice

Most of us think that pressure manifests when we have too much work or when our schedules are jam packed, however, the majority of stress and anxiety comes from the pressure we put on ourselves.

I believe there are ten main sources of stress … and they all come from our own negative “inner voice”.  In other words, rather than remembering our own unique Light, we create stress in our life by judging ourselves too harshly.

As part of my self-care, I try to be mindful of my “inner critical voice” and the reasons that stress creeps into my life.

I invite you to take a look at the list below. How many do you recognize?

1. Self-criticism

2. Powerlessness

3. Perfectionism

4. Worry

5. Unrealistic expectations

6. Insecurity

7. Hurrying

8. Comparing to others

9. Pessimism

10. Competition

I’d like to share some tips on how you can silence your inner critic and strengthen your inner voice.
1. Focus on your strengths.  To tame your inner critic, focus on your strengths rather than your weaknesses. And, forgive your imperfections.2. Look at your choices.  Instead of feeling powerlessness, open your eyes to all the choices in front of you. We are all powerful beyond measure.

3. Do your best.  We all have room for improvement. There is so much to learn and experience that being a perfectionist doesn’t serve us well. Do your best, but let the elusive “perfect” go.

4. Trust.  Faith, trust and action are the best antidote to worry, especially about situations we cannot control. Trust in Spirit, your angels, and your Divine guidance.

5. Have realistic expectations. Life will never be problem-free, however, our outlook can be. Try to focus on what you have, rather than what you lack.

6. Emotional Security.  We have what we need to be emotionally secure. It’s inside each one of us. Look inward for balance and joy. Others can’t provide it.

7. Slow life down.  Try walking slower, chewing slower and working at a steady, but not frantic pace. Take breaks to refresh yourself. You’ll be surprised to find yourself performing better.

8. Stop comparing yourself to others. Instead of looking at what others have, compare your success and accomplishments to your goals and dreams. Keep looking forward and taking inspired action.

9. Expect the best from life.  Spirit has a way of supplying us with what we need. Keep positive, even when you see the worst.

10. Look for the lesson within.  Every failure has a silver lining. Focus on what you’ve learned and you will always find success.

I invite you to give these a try! Let your Inner Wise One’s voice be much stronger than your Inner Critic’s voice.

10 Great Reasons to take a Reiki Class

Freedom found with Reiki classes1.  Reiki teaches you how to self-heal so that on a daily basis you can balance your body, mind, spriit and physical body.  A reiki course will empower you to take control of your own health and well-being.

2.  So many are looking for direction and guidance in their life, but don’t know where to turn.  If you feel like something may be missing from your life, then you will benefit from a Reiki class!

We all need spiritual fulfillment and connection to be truly happy and if we are lacking that connection, then really, we have nothing.  Reiki will allow you to connect to your intuition and make the choices that are right for you.

3.  Stress is a major factor in a range of illness and millions of work days are lost every year due to employee stress.  Reiki can help you find inner peace and clarity.

4.  Reiki dosn’t just relieve stress and help you relax – it can be used to work on physical and emotional conditions as well!  Taking a Reiki class can really assist with stress, depression, injuries, fractures, surgery, arthritis and more!

5.  A process called the “Attunement” is used to connect you to your higher self and help you to know you self on a more intimate level.  Reiki shows you who you really are and opens up your mind to the things that you need and in this life.

6.  Do you sometimes feel like you are taking, taking and never giving?  Reiki will assist you in helping others in a soul satisfying way and there is nothing like being able to offer a healing gift to someone in need.

7.  Learning Reiki will help you see others as they really are.  We often give others the benefit of doubt, even if deep down we do not really trust who they are.  Learning Reiki can make you feel like you’e lived in darkness and suddenly, the “light” has been turned on!

8.  We all accumulate emotional trauma in our lives and so many think that by just burying these traumas, they have dealt with “it”.  Emotional trauma leave negative energies in our body and if this energy is not released, this may hold us back from shinning our light in the world, or worse yet, manifest into a serious illness.

9.  Many of us get trapped is a circle that follows the same unhealthy lifestyle patterns and habits over their lifetime.  Despite many attempts to change these behaviors, many are bogged down by their life and are unmotivated to make the changes needed.  Reiki can change the way you look at life and deal with situations.  Suddenly it doesn’t seem so difficult to make the decisions we need to make, they just naturally occur when they need to!

10. Everyone longs for happiness…very few actually achieve it though.  The founder of Reiki, Dr. Mikao Usui said that Reiki is the “Art of Inviting Happiness”.

True happiness comes from being connected to your intuition or higher self and following your true journey on this earth.  Without that bond, the soul suffers.

Therapeutic Effects of Reiki Drumming

Therapeutic Effects of Reiki Drumming

Drumming reminds our body of its ideal vibratory rate, which is in harmony with the pulse of the earth and the Universal flow of creation. Reiki combined with the rhythm of the drum helps to indentify and remove energy blockages, reduce stress and strengthen the nervous system, creating a deep sense of emotional well-being. It can improve focus, clarity, learning and memory, and help to unlock the creativity within. Reiki drumming has both preventative and therapeutic benefits and is a purifying process.

Reiki drumming affects the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies simultaneously, helping to bring them into harmony while raising the vibratory rate to levels which may allow the body to accelerate its innate healing abilities.

There have been many scientific research studies conducted to discover the effect sound and drumming have on the human body and psyche. Biofeedback research indicates that even brief heartbeat drumming can double alpha brainwaves and reduce modern day stress, which is known to depress the immune system over long periods of time.

“Research further demonstrates that drumming accesses the whole brain, synchronising the two cerebral hemispheres, engaging both logical left brain and intuitive right brain. It has been shown to generate dynamic neural connections in the brain, even when there has been significant damage such as after stroke or with Parkinson’s Disease. Other studies have noted that IQ scores have improved with control groups after playing drums.”

Sea Salts and Baths…

Salts and Baths

Sea Salts

If you have a history of “toxic habits” such as heavy meat eating, smoking or alcohol consumption, taking a salt and soda bath several times a week is a wonderful idea. Fill the tub with warm water and add 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of sea salt and/or Epsom Salt. Stay in the bath for 20-30 minutes to mobilize toxins out of the body through the skin.

Mustard Foot Soaks

This soak can help eliminate toxic headaches (congested feeling), generalized toxic symptoms, muscle aches and pains, water retention in the ankles and other parts of the body. Add 1 tablespoon of mustard seeds and 1 teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper to basin of warm water. Sit in a comfy chair and soak your feet for 20-30 minutes in the bath. Repeat 2-3 times daily especially during periods of intense toxicity.
Please note that Essential Energy Healing carries:
